GIL GREGGS
BIOGRAPHY
I am the Director of Academic Programs at St. David’s School in Raleigh, NC. I have a Ph.D. from Yale University in Religious Studies with a concentration in Old Testament and Ancient Languages. I also have a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School and was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1985. I taught for years at Yale, the University of Missouri, and Duke before coming to St. David’s. After graduating from Amherst College in 1975 I served as a VISTA worker in public housing projects in New Britain, Connecticut. I am married to Claudia Dickson (29 years) who is an Anglican Priest. We have two children, Caleb, 26 who works for Fidelity Investments, and Emily, 39, who works for a startup firm in women’s health (cardiology) based in Palo Alto, California (though she lives in Pittsboro and works mostly form home). We have two grandsons, Theodore Gilbert, age 2, and Alex, age 5. I am a Democrat, though a fiscal conservative. I love to workout at a local gym. I tell my children that I am not going to heaven unless there are three things present there: coffee, baseball, and opera; though I am sure all three are there.
